Ich weiß ja nicht genau, was Ihr braucht. Ich dachte an
Geschichte des Wolfes in Oregon
Neuste Zuwanderungen und status quo
Managementpläne
evtl. öffentl. Meinung.
Gefährdung
illegale Abschüsse.
Ich habe eine Public Domainkarte gefunden und trage dort Standorte und evtl. Zuwanderungsrouten ein
Wäre das in Eurem Sinn?

... darin enthalten "viele" Links zu Forschungsarbeiten in Bezug auf die Auswirkungen auf die Beutetier Populationen durch Predatoren (Wolf).
Ist 'ne ganze Menge "Lesestoff" für
"Leseratten", die es interessiert ...

Uns geht es doch wie dir, wir tasten uns auch nur voran. Was du gut findest, finden wir auch gut. Wie soll denn einer alles machen, jeder soll rausrücken, mit dem was er beitragen kann und was er rausfindet, die Sache hat es verdient! Ich denke, die anderen werden uns auch Mut zusprechen.

Es gibt bei den Ausarbeitungen und Zusammenfassungen keinerlei "Vorgaben", wie jemand etwas ausarbeitet ...
Du kannst also "schalten und walten" wie du denkst und dich dabei "austoben". Je ausführlicher desto besser für diejenigen unter uns, die des englischen nicht so mächtig sind (mich eingeschlossen ... arrrgh)

Auch in den USA wird das Wild (an)gefüttert, .... und das hat zur Folge, das sich die Wölfe in "besiedelte" Gegenden begeben. So geschehen:

Das Phantom Hill Pack wird wirklich noch berühmt.
Immerhin ist es auch verantwortlich für den Tod eines zweijährigen Puma, der als Einzelgänger zur "falschen Zeit - am falschen Ort" gewesen ist.
Jedoch hat "Fish and Game nicht zur Jagd aufgerufen, sondern die Bevölkerung darum gebeten, ihre Hunde nicht aus den "Augen" zu verlieren und möglichst an der Leine zu führen. Nutzvieh, Lamas und Pferde sollten in die Nähe der Scheunen und Stallungen gebracht werden.
Ziel sei es, die "Schwarzen" (Phantom Hill Pack) abzuschrecken und zu "vergraulen".
Sowohl Wolfgegener als auch Wolfbefürworter sind sehr aufmerksam, ... beobachten und fotografieren, wie weit sich die Wölfe "vorwagen"... |

Vielen Dank für den interessanten Bericht.
Könnte mir gut vorstellen, dass im dicht besiedelten Deutschland die Wölfe in Zukunft auch verstärkt die Wege der Menschen kreuzen werden.
Gut zu hören, dass dort nicht gleich zur Jagd nach den "Schwarzen"
aufgerufen wird. |

Zum vollständigen Übersetzen zu lang. Man meint, den Verein für Sicherheit und Artenschutz oder sonst einen Blut- und Bodenverein zu hören. Das Aus für Rinder, Wild, Jäger und Kinder...  Und die naturliebende Stadtbevölkerung besteht natürlich aus verblendeten Trotteln, die keine Ahnung haben...

Idaho Department of Fish and Game officials believe the Phantom Hill wolf pack has become too accustomed to the Wood River Valley's residential areas.
So, concerned by the near-constant presence of the all-black, 10-member pack around neighborhoods stretching from Sun Valley to Hailey in recent weeks, Fish and Game decided to take action to scare the wolves off to more remote areas.
"We will likely be hazing these wolves away from the area sometime in the next few days," said Regan Berkley, the department's Magic Valley regional wildlife biologist, on Monday.
For the past two weeks, watching the Phantom Hill wolves—the first pack confirmed to have taken up residence and given birth to pups in the Wood River Valley since the 1995 reintroduction of wolves to the northern Rocky Mountains—has nearly become an everyday part of locals' lives.
Hunting and feeding on elk, the pack was first seen by many residents for a period of several days in the Elkhorn foothills east of Sun Valley. The pack is believed to have killed a solitary, 2-year-old male cougar that was also hunting in the area.
Within the past 10 days, the Phantom Hill wolves have begun to occupy areas outside of what was considered their normal home range from Ketchum northwest into the upper Big Wood River drainage to Galena Summit. Following their Elkhorn showing, the wolves were heard and spotted by a number of residents and Fish and Game conservation officers out the East Fork of the Big Wood River. There, the pack is known to have taken down a wintering mule deer and an elk.
Early last week—apparently after crossing state Highway 75 unseen somewhere between Ketchum and Hailey—the pack was spotted by numerous valley residents in the rolling hills on the north side of Deer Creek, north of Hailey. From there, the pack headed north to Greenhorn Gulch, where it was spotted off and on until Monday spending time within sight of area homeowners.
Photos of the pack near an elk kill on the north side of the residential road that heads west into Greenhorn Gulch have made the local e-mail rounds. The pack has also drawn its fair share of people—both for and against the animals' presence—hoping to catch a glimpse of the highly visible wolves.
Fish and Game officers believe the pack was drawn to Greenhorn Gulch by wintering elk attracted to a private feeding operation out Timber Gulch near the Golden Eagle subdivision, on the west side of Highway 75.
Berkley said Fish and Game has decided to use a helicopter to locate and then haze the wolves. She said the department plans to scare the pack away using a shotgun loaded with non-lethal "cracker shells."
Cracker shells are typically shot above or to the side of an animal and give off a loud bang. Berkley said the main goal of the "adversive conditioning" is to drive the wolves off and teach them to stay away from humans.
Around noon on Tuesday, unofficial word came in from residents in the Sun Valley area that Fish and Game was taking advantage of a break in the weather to attempt the aerial hazing. Though no one was available at the Magic Valley office to confirm that, reports indicated that the Phantom Hill pack had made its way back to the Elkhorn foothills by Tuesday, thereby completing a full circle of the mid-valley.
So far, the wolves have not preyed upon any pets or domestic livestock. Fish and Game officials are still concerned that the pack could get into trouble by going after domestic dogs.
"You should keep your pets indoors as much as possible," Berkley said.
When outdoors, she said, people should keep their dogs on a leash or within their line of sight. She said people should also try to keep other animals—horses, llamas and sheep—as close to their barns and houses as possible.
"The closer they are to home, the safer they are going to be," she said.
On Monday, Berkley said the timing of the hazing is ideal. She said warmer weather is melting snow on the hillsides, which should cause the wolves' main prey to scatter. The wintering elk will eventually head higher into surrounding mountains as summer arrives, she said.

| Gegen ein verscheuchen der Wölfe aus dem menschlichen Siedlungsgebiet mit Platzpatronen gibt es meiner Meinung nach nichts negatives zu sagen. |

Durch die privaten Wapitifütterungen und den ungünstigen Witterungsverhältnissen (Nebel), durch die die "Verscheuchung" nicht möglich ist, sind die Wölfe vom Phantom Hill's Pack mittlerweile so dicht am Siedlungsgebiet des Menschen, daß F&G die ursprüngliche Vertreibungstaktik nicht mehr anwenden kann.Wenn das Wetter es zuläßt, wird man nochmal einen Versuch unternehmen. Spätestens wenn die Wapitis weiterziehen, wird ihnen das Rudel sowieso folgen ... - so F&G. Bis dahin sollten Haustiere weiterhin im Haus bleiben.
Anwohner befürchten aber auch, daß es sich die Phantoms vielleicht auch zu "gemütlich" machen könnten und einfach bleiben ... ! Warten wir mal, wie es weitergeht.

Das alte Spiel: Hochpäppeln der Bestände, damit man leichter "jagen" kann und wenn auch die Wölfe auf dieses Überangebot aufmerksam werden und zu nahe an Siedlungen kommen, geht das Geschrei wieder los...

Stanley area wolves could be hunted from September to March

Gray wolves occupying the Sawtooth Valley will be hunted for a full seven months under rules approved today by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission in Boise.
The Sawtooth hunt, scheduled to run from Sept. 1 through March 31, is part of a statewide set of rules the Fish and Game commission approved for the wolf season anticipated to begin this fall, a news release from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game states. For the statewide wolf hunt to happen, wolves in Idaho will need to be removed from the federal Endangered Species List, which is expected to officially take place later this spring.
The Sawtooth wolf zone covers Idaho big game units 33, 34, 35, 36 and 39, a large area stretching from Boise to Stanley. The area takes in the Boise, Sawtooth and White Cloud mountain ranges and runs all the way to the north side of Galena Summit. Wolves in the Lolo wolf zone in north-central Idaho will also be hunted from Sept. 1 through March 31.
Elsewhere in the state, wolf hunting seasons will run from Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 in the Selway and Middle Fork wolf zones in the remote central part of Idaho.
Across the remainder of the state, including the Wood River Valley, wolf hunting will run from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 under the rules approved today. Commissioners will set statewide wolf harvest levels in August.
